NCD next year
55%
NCD next year assumes no claim this year. A claim takes it to 0% at the next renewal.
How much is a premium with 55% NCD?
| Basic premium | RM2,975.26 |
|---|---|
| NCD 55% | minus RM1,636.39 |
| Add-on covers | RM75.00 |
| Service tax 8% | RM113.11 |
| Stamp duty | RM10.00 |
| Total payable | RM1,536.98 |
NCD: RM2,975.26 × 55% = RM1,636.39.
After NCD, with add-ons: RM2,975.26 − RM1,636.39 + RM75.00 = RM1,413.87.
Total: RM1,413.87 + 8% service tax RM113.11 + RM10 stamp duty = RM1,536.98.
This is the worked example in Etiqa’s private car product disclosure sheet (1 Jan 2026), for a Honda City with a sum insured of RM84,600.
Questions about NCD
What is the NCD scale?
For a private car: 0% in the first year, then 25%, 30%, 38⅓%, 45% and 55% after five claim-free years. The NCD guide has the full rules.
Does NCD come off add-on covers?
No. NCD comes off the basic premium. Add-on covers, the 8% service tax and the RM10 stamp duty are added after it.
What happens to my NCD after a claim?
A claim on your policy takes your NCD to 0% at the next renewal, unless you were not at fault and claim from the other driver’s insurer or make an Own Damage Knock-for-Knock claim.
